| theanticancer's Full Review: eMachines eMonster |
Last month I purchased the emonster600 for about $500 dollars after that stupid msn rebate (another thing i suggest you dont get). But thats another story. At first the emonster seemed really great. The specs didn't look all that bad, and with the ports located right at the fronnt of the machine one would think that this machine was built for gaming. Well, dont be fooled by its presence. All the fancy cards it says it has are not as great as they sound. That "superfast" voodoo3 card is about 3 years old. Which makes it almost bottom of the line these days. The sound card isn't complete junk, but close enough. Though everything is upgradeable, they threw in a junker motherboard so you can only upgrade with junk components. In other words, the motherboard couldnt handle the higher quality stuff. Last week i returned my computer because everytime i wold run a game it would freeze everytime I tried to save. That really pisses someone off after a while. They wern't going to let me return it,but after I wined directly to the manager, they gave me store credit, which is fine by me. And i got all but twenty dollars of that msn rebate back.
So here is my final statement. If you bought the emonster because it was the "Ultimate Gaming Machine" bring it back now.
If you bought it because your only typing letters and surfing the net, fine. Hey you can even start a DVD collection, the player works fine (just don't touch anything untill the movies done).
All around, spend a couple hundred more and get a real computer. Youll just have to save up a little longer. The best route I ended up going with was a costom build site over the internet. You get a top of the line computer for the same price as an emachine.
