Looks good, easy to use, lower cost. I'm one who doesn't need e-mail etc.,so the features on board are enough. I started 6 years or so ago with a with a "Casio Boss" 64K and never filled it up, so 2MB can hold more stuff than the average user will ever need. The HotSync worked flawlessly. I LOVE IT!! The letter recognition is almost flawless compared to other PDA's and it is very functional. It is hard to find some accessories for it this early though.
Two features I think which make my new toy better than its predecessors: a clock has been integrated that flashes the time through a hole (see through plastic window) in the cover. The other is a piece of software designed to replace Memo Pad. This feature, called Note Pad, allows you to draw and take notes directly on the screen rather than using Graffiti to enter text--thank God! Very handy for jotting down a phone number, which you can later transcribe with Graffiti.

Upside-it's fully customizable with colored face-plates, and an article palm's website http://www.palm.com/about/pr/080700a.html states that many companies are already developing add-on modules for it (ie. backup units, mp3 players, etc.). Check sites other than Palm for more competitive prices though.
Downside- the mail application has been removed from the OS...
Functionality wise, I love the product. When you connect your palm with the Hotsync cable, your options are endless. Check out Palms site at http://www.palm.com.
