About Face and RUN!!!!Mar 24 '00 Write an essay on this topic."For the money one intends to put out for a decent laptop, it is my strong opinion that one should get a product of value, quality, and craftsmanship." If you agree, steer clear of any laptop made by Toshiba. I have limited experience in an organization that relies on such laptops (various models), and at any given point, one can expect around an average 56/800 failure rate (broken laptops, sent out for warranty service, in the real world!). Despite my definitive lack of a math major, from my personal experience alone, I calculate a 7% failure rate, and based largely on that statistic would NEVER even consider purchasing any product from a company with such a horrendous durability record... (also, the "mouse-substitute", pointer device is a joke) My advice -> #1. look for a quality name (from my experience, IBM seems to have outperformed all the competition in terms of reliability [have heard verified horror stories of other brands as well. ie a gateway that caught fire, NCR with melted keys, etc.]) #2. warranty!!! |
