Excellent Utilities

Written: Apr 12 '00
Pros:Lots of utilities, very easy to use
Cons:a little buggy, may have to reinstall if you have a repetitious problem

I recently purchased a copy of this program and it was a big step up from the program I had. It not only did what I needed, but exceeded my expectations. When using CDRW's it allows you to "format" the disc to make it usable like a floppy disc. This is an excellent feature, because if you've ever had to burn CD's where you had to burn all the files all at once, it was a pain to make just one small change, but not with this program. It has many utilities like the one I just described, but also a program called Take Two, which is a backup utility of your hard drive. My favorite is the CD Copier. Yes, it's a basic program, but the interface is very easy to use and it only takes in advanced options if you want to see them. Most people don't need to mess with those, so the main program window only has a selection of where to burn from and to. If you want to change any of the options, you may select the advanced tab to change speed, to test the disc or not, etc. The CD Spin Doctor allows you to burn CDs as music to play in your CD Player/car stereo. It allows sources not only from another CD, but also mp3 and other media files from your hard drive, and input sources from your sound card (tape players, microphones, etc.). The easy CD creator is the most generic part of the program suite. It shows what's going to be burned to the CD which you can change all the way up to hitting the record button. Sources can be any file that you have access to. You can also save destination templates if you burn the same files a lot or need to hold off on a particular burn for whatever reason, but don't want to add all the files again. There's also the jewel case creator which is a powerful jewel case and CD label creator. Very easy to use and friendly with a lot of imported pictures. The Sound Editor is a basic wav editing program. The Video CD Creator is pretty self explanatory. It creates Video CD's that hold mpeg format files. You may select to have a menu system, and also select to have one frame used as a thumbnail picture to display each file. The PhotoRelay program allows you to create picture CDs. This program allows you to make an album, a video post card, or slide show. As you can see, there are a tons of utilities using your CDR/RW drive. Added on to this, it is also extremely easy to use. This is ideal to the common person in that it doesn't require someone to be an expert in computers to understand what's going on.
