I have been using MSN Messenger for a while now, and absolutely LOVE it! This is the third messenger service I've used, the first being ICQ, which I've used since their start, and AOL Messenger, which I hated and removed rather quickly.

Pros:
I really enjoy MSN Messenger, and use it every day to chat with my friends from around the world. Initial sign up is simple, even for a Newbie. There is no logging on required when you log on to the net, it does everything for you. I have never had a problem logging on, nor have I received errors of any kind during log-on. And, I've never experienced a "down time".
The chat features are great, when someone comes online that is on your contact list, a little pop-up window appears in the lower-right corner of your screen. You can click on it, and instantly a chat window appears. It's that simple!
Also, the chats itself are pretty smooth. No one gets kicked out of a room, and you can have up to 5 people chatting in one room. You can be in multiple rooms chatting simultaneously. And, you can continue to surf while chatting without falling behind during the chat, because the toolbar icon for MSN Messenger blinks when another chatter has posted a message to alert you. I really love that feature, you don't have to sit with the chat window on top and wait for a slow typist or a long post, you can do other things. I design and update websites for myself and others, and can easily work on my sites or surf, and chat with a friend easily at the same time.

Cons:
There are a few drawbacks to MSN Messenger, though. The first one is that you are limited to 5 people in a room at a time. Some of my friends schedule a weekly chat night, and when more than 5 of us are online, we can't all chat in 1 room at the same time, we have to use 2 rooms to chat.
Another drawback is that someone can open a chat window to chat with you, and you don't have the option to accept or decline the chat, you're instantly put in a chat.

Overall, I feel MSN Messenger is a very user-friendly chat service for anyone to use, even the most inexperienced internet or computer user. I do use it every day, and don't even use my ICQ anymore, too much clicking required for ICQ. MSN is so simple and time saving. I recommend it to everyone.
Thanks for reading, and have a great day!
