I got this motherboard back in the spring of '98 (I think), and guess what? I'm still using it now. It's a definite workhouse, and with the BIOS updates, it can support many of the Pentium 3's out there.
I got this board because I was finally upgrading from my P166, and I was looking to overclock a celeron 300a to 450. In addition, it was first experience with a jumperless board, and it was sure a pleasant experience. Overclocking my CPU took about 30 seconds, and I was up and running.
Then just 2 months ago, I decided that I should move into the 500 mhz+ range, and I didn't want to change my motherboard. But I was afraid of my motherboard being compatible with the new P3's and celeron2's. However, all I had to do was goto Abit's site and flash my bios, and next thing I knew, I was running a Celeron2-566 at 894 mhz with the same motherboard.
This board probably won't take you into the 1 Ghz range and it doesn't have built in ATA-66/100 support, but I think it would be a great deal if you just wanted to put together a computer for the family.
You probably will want to check out some of the other ABit boards which I have used in my friends's computers.
