Pros: pretty pictures, uninstalls quickly, cool map
Cons: Horrible, annoying implementation of online gaming, takes up way too much hard drive space, major waste of time and money.

Oh the horror. I can see it now. Thousands upon thousands of boys and girls, men and women, becoming more anti-social by the second because of one horrible game. Ultima Online is that horrible game. To some people its like heroin. When you're using it, you don't have a care in the world because you're off in some little fantasy world fight dragons or tree elves or whatever. Sadly, I hate to say it, but I was once one of these people. I played Ultima Online, or UO as the addicts or magazine editors call it, maybe 2 to 3 hours a day. 2 to 3 hours a day. Man, what I could have done with that time... I just boggles the mind. I could have written a nice piece of software, netted myself some extra cash. I could have been hanging out with friends, or running, or spending time with my girlfriend. But no, I had to play Ultima freakin Online.
Even as a game UO doesn't work that well. There really is no point. The point, as the copy monkeys over at the UO web site put it, is "Social Interaction and Companionship"... What the hell does that mean. Doesn't every online game have some form of social interaction or companionship? In Quake, you blow the hell out of other people. In my book, that's social interaction, but at least that's not the point. The point of Quake IS to blow the hell out of other people. UO doesn't have a goal like that, in so far as I can tell. I think the goal is to gain levels or skill points but I may be wrong. All I know is that they encourage you to spend as much time as possible in the online world.
So, if you are like I once was, I implore you to quit NOW. Your time is valuable, DON'T SPEND IT IN UO. If you are looking for something to do, go help out a needy kid, or paint a room in your house. Just do something constructive.
