Prosessor Speed isint everything!

Today is January the 30th. And the newly released 800MHZ computers are hot! Companies like Compaq, IBM, HP, etc. are smart, they offer the AMD 800MHZ chip, with their computers, but what about the other components?
Heres an example:
800MHZ AMD ATHLON
128MB SDRAM
17GB Hard Drive
16MB Video Memory
128 sound card
32X CD-ROM
thats a basic "trick computer" , lets review why:
the 800 Megahertz processor is revolutionary, but the computer goes down from there!
128 megs of ram is more than enough, but since a computer with 800MHZ is high-end, it should have RDRAM- not sdram, and 256MB would be satisfying.
sixteen megs of video is more than enough for most people, however once again since this is a "high-end" machine, why not have the gamer-desired 32MB Graphics? (BTW: did you know that 64MB is already out?)
sound, most people think nothing much of the sound, maybe thats why this company did'nt either. if you crave; creme-de-la-creme audio, go for 320 sound card!
ahh yes, the CD-rom, probably one of the most used phrephrals used today, 32X is great, but then again, they do offer 50X, and DVD is also becoming important!
17 Gigs of hard drive, thats great (even if they have 40GBs), sure you won't run out of space anytime soon, but i bet you that this is a cruddy 5200RPM unit, not a quick acess 7200 ULTRA.
They would probobly charge you $2500 for this, 800MHZ "power house".
The point of this epinion was to notify that companies are smart- and a lot of computer shoppers are not. People tend to look for the fastest processor speed, forgeting about all the rest (i did). Thanks, and I hope i helped! ALSO please remember, there are many computer offering true speed and performance! Dell (dell.com) offers the ability to build your own system.
