The Gateway Performance 600 Desktop System delivers as promised.
It is fast, efficient, and reliable.
The Gateway Performance 600 system includes the following features: Intel 600MHz Pentium III Processor, 128MB 100MHz SDRAM (expandable to 384MB), 19 inch monitor with 18" viewable screen, 16MB AGC Graphic Accelerator, 20.0GB 7200 RPM Ultra ATA Hard Drive with UATA66 Controller, 8X/32X DVD ROM/3.5" Diskette, Soundblaster Live!Value with Digital Audio Output, Boston Acoustic BA735 Digital Speakers with Subwoofer, 3COM US Robotics 56K3 Voice Winmodem, MS Windows 98 Second Edition, Quicken Basic 99, Norton Anti Virus, and more. In short, this package has the best features that Gateway has to offer. A 700MHz system is also available. System prices can vary based upon the configuration that you desire.
I have used computers for 10 years, however, I am not mechanically or technically inclined. For me,the Gateway Performance 600 is a dream come true. It was very easy to set up. Internet access was a snap. The monitor presents a clear and crisp picture throughout the 18 inch viewing area.
The appearance of the system is also pleasing. In contrast, comparable components from various manufacturers at Fry's and Best Buy, for example, were priced about the same as a Gateway Performance 600. And, at those other stores, the color of the components, pieced together from different manufacturers, often varies, negatively impacting the aesthetics. If I am spending over $2,300, I want the computer system to have both aesthetics and performance.
I also demand good service. Gateway provides exceptional service. I did not find the salesmen at Fry's, Best Buy, Staples, Home Depot, or Comp USA, particularly helpful.
At Gateway, there was a sincere effort to answer my questions and to match the computer and software to my needs.
I find, in general, that before I buy, the sales staff is cordial. After I buy, salesmen want little to do with you. Maybe this has happened to you, too. At Gateway, I was very pleased with the sincere and helpful response to each of my after purchase questions.
I am not easy to please. I have purchased only a few products that actually "delivered" as expected. The Gateway 600 performance system is one of them.
