I joined this site about one year ago.
This program gives you points (tryer points) for selecting samples, learning about a manufacturer, referring, providing feedback, mailing in upcs, and visiting the site once a day.
Selecting samples:
The samples are very tiny (one sucker, two lifesavers, etc). They are sent out promptly and the packaging has always been in tact (for me). It is a great way to try out a new product, but not much help if you want the whole family's opinion. The real trick seems to be timing! Selecting a sample is very challenging, unless it's been offered a few times. You can only select each one once.
Learning about a manufacturer:
This is very simple, and only takes a few minutes. You click on the sample. There are two choices, click here to select sample, and click here to find out more about "name of company goes here". It takes you to a page with a brief description, and it has the url to the company's site to.
Providing feedback:
After receiving your sample, you can leave feedback for the product. Click on provide feedback, sign in, and a simple form comes up. It already has the samples you have received and lets you choose which one to comment on. This only takes a few minutes and is the highest point earning opportunity on the site.
What's left:
The rest is fairly self explanatory. So lets delve into the point system!
Visit StartSampling (once/day) 10 miles
Select a sample for delivery 20 miles
Read about a manufacturer 15 miles
Provide feedback on a sample 25 miles
Mail a receipt and proof-of-purchase 5 miles
Tell a friend - and they subscribe 5 miles
Redeeming your points:
2500 points gets you:
cd,movie,dvd,book,$20 amazon.com gift certificate
4000 points gets you:
computer software, game of choice, or $50 amazon.com gift certificate
10000 points gets you:
dvd player or a 32 inch color tv
My opinion
I've been using this program for some time. I have about 2000 miles (points). I will get enough points for one "prize", and unless the give the program more ummmph, probably never go back.
