| tinasamuels's Full Review: Philips PC 800 Series Internal CDRW |
I bought my Philips CDRW 800 to use when it was clear that I need to transfer my files onto CD's instead of clinging to diskettes as I had previously. I went into Best Buy and they had this one on sale for like $179 and had a rebate, so I just bought it and really didn't look at the others. Usually that is a mistake, but it turned out well as this CDRW has gave me no problems.
After following the step by step setup guide in the manual, I was up and running in about an hour. Your times may vary depending on your technical background or lack of it.
The Philips CDRW 800 features 8 speed recording on a Recordable CD, 4 speed recording on a Rewritable CD, and 32 speed reading. It is also compatible with seven different formats. This means that it can record and read your CD-ROMS, CD-ROM XA, CD-I, CD-DA, CD Bridge multisession, CD-extra, and Video CD.
The guidebook is very informative and will make it simple for you just to pop the CDRW in with merely a screwdriver and small pliers.
It comes with software for burning purposes.
Keep in mind that this system operates on at minimum
166 MHz pentium
32 MB RAM
vacant IDE interface connector
vacant half-height bay
Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0 or higher
and at least 12 MB of free hard drive
Recommended:
Yes
