Aww... You peeked.
Anyway, my wife gave me an H-P P1000 inkjet color printer for Christmas. I would have rated it higher but it was broken right out of the box. I expected a lot better than that from Hewlett-Packard.
The first three times I tried to make a print, the machine jammed. I cleared the paper path each time and tried again. The fourth time it said the print head was jammed. I opened the top cover and sure enough, the print head was jammed by a chunk of plastic. It was one of the baffles that direct the paper through the machine. It either came loose during shipping or was never installed correctly in the first place.
I work as a technician for Xerox so I know my way around printers, copiers, and paper paths. I was able to get it fixed after about an hour but I doubt if the average user would have been able to do anything with it, even with tech support over the phone. Another thing I didn't like was that it just felt flimsy, sort of like the plastic toys the kids got for Christmas. I guess working for Xerox with their big solid machines makes everything else look lightweight.
The copy quality is very good for the price. If you want better print quality you will have to pay a lot more. The added feature of slots for smart cards is nice if you want to bypass your computer but the whole point of digital photography is the ability to edit the pictures (on a computer) before you print them.
Overall, I like it. My first impulse was to heave it through a window but I got over that. This is about the best combination of price and quality out there for an inkjet printer.
