| brucec30's Full Review: Acer TravelMate TM600TER |
I purchased this laptop after a lot of shopping and am reasonable happy with it. One of the things I shopped for was a CD-RW and it does have it, I have found however, I really miss the 3.5" floppy for the convienence of interacting with other computers.
I received the unit on Sept 13,00 and used it regularly until Oct 14,00 when the keyboard quit working properly (lost about six keys, they provided no response when I would press them). I spoke to Acer (tech support was quite quick) and the tech told me it had to be shipped in for repair, (the selling company replaced it). The unit seems very slow to boot up, about 2 minutes but everything else about the laptop is great. The CD-RW has worked much better the one on my desktop never aborting a CD burn which the desktop does often. It does lack all the ports a computer user is used to, such as serial and parallel, you must plug an extension in for these ports. I has two USB ports, built in network and modem. The display is ok, though I have seen better but the price, I felt was very good. Processor speed and type was a big point with me (PIII- 600Mhz). Screen size is 13.3".
I would recommend it to others shopping for a nice laptop with the greatest feature being the CD-RW.
