I have been a faithful user of ICQ for awhile now. This program is wonderful for me because I am not a fan of the full chat rooms, trying to follow numerous conversations and ignoring offensive people. With ICQ, your chats are more private than chat rooms, you pick and choose who you want to chat with, you can post a chat request for the topic you choose or you can just pick someone at random. Many people out there have ICQ so you have a vast selection to pick from.

It is easy to install, very easy to use and best of all, it is free. You get voicechat with it, email, file transfers are faster, and you can add your own sounds and preferences. It will take you awhile to learn everything that ICQ has to offer but once you get used to it, you will enjoy it.

I used to use Yahoo Messenger and MSN Messenger but once I found ICQ, the rest just weren't enough for me. I could only find a few people on MSN Messenger to chat with and with Yahoo Messenger, I kept getting annoyed by unwanted chatters.

The security and privacy is better with ICQ, email alerts are sent directly to your contact list, web page URL's can be sent out from there, it is easy to avoid certain people and it isn't as easy to get your personal information as with some of the other messenger services. Plus, everything can be saved, i.e. chats, pictures, bookmarks.

I would recommend ICQ to anyone who enjoys chatting, meeting new people or just keeping in contact with friends, family and co-workers.
