This is better than Napster!!!!

Written: Nov 21 '00 (Updated Apr 29 '01)
Pros:Resume downloads, tonnes of users, easy interface
Cons:contains spyware, only mp3's, no chat room in program
The Bottom Line: Great for dial-up users.

I have been using audiogalaxy for over a year now... and I have uninstalled Napster because I found that I wasn't using it!! Audiogalaxy has a very user friendly interface, and I have yet to NOT find a song in the system. Like Napster, users share files from their hard drives, and you can search for the song and choose which version to download.
Recently Audiogalaxy launched a new search page that catergorizes the music in to genre. This is especially neat because you can discover artists that you never even knew existed!!
Another plus is the ability to resume downloads. I have a dial up connection, so this is a very important feature for me. Furthermore, you can adjust the amount of bandwidth that the program uses for the downloads. This means that you can still surf on your dial-up while downloading without waiting for ever for the pages to load!!

So far, only mp3's can be traded. Another drawback is that there is no chat function as in other programs.

Overall I am VERY impressed with this program.

Update: Since upgrading their software, the company now packages it with spyware. This is an invasion of privacy, but I don't really care is some company wants to know what internet sites I visit. Now if only audiogalaxy had some funding they wouldn't have to stoop to getting sponsered.
