With the loss of my WEBTV due to moving to a small town, we used our savings to purchase a computer. Once that was accomplished the grandparents on both side went out and bought the children the Jump Start programs. They have proven to be an excellent tool in helping my children. With one that just started Kinder, these programs have helped her with her school work and even excelled her performance in school. The younger two enjoy playing with the program thinking it's a game while I know they are actually learning something and will be prepared when their turn comes to go to school. My oldest son enjoyed using the 5th grade Jump Start program to help him with subjects he was having problems with in his first years of 6th grade. This program along with all its other programs in the Jump Start series has proven to be a useful tool in letting the children enter a new technology age and I would recommend this to all new parents or parents with children either in school or not in school. The program is easy to install and easy to use. They are also fun that at times I catch myself playing with it when my children get on the computer.
