| lilbigblue's Full Review: Asus K7V |
I have had a Dell Computer for several years now (uses an Intel Motherboard). After 6 months, the onboard sound died. Next, the Keyboard connection died. And lately my printer has been losing it's connectivity with my computer. These were all sure signs that my motherboard was dying. I recently built a new computer with an Athlon CPU. I decided to go with a motherboard that had a great track record and a reputable name. ASUS was my choice. The K7V cost me about $135.00 through an online retailer. It has the typical 2 PS/2 ports, 2 USB ports, Printer Port, 2 serial ports. It has 1 AGP slot for video cards and 5 PCI slots for all my other input cards. There were 3 slots for memory chips that can support up to 768MB RAM (if i'm not mistaken) and ASUS is always providing BIOS updates on their website so that upgrading for future technology will always be possible. The BIOS was extremely straightforward, and best of all, for you lazy computer buffs, it was a jumperless motherboard. That meant no more poked fingers or trying to dig your fingers in between pieces of the motherboard. The CPU bracket was very stable and it survived my trip from New Jersey to Boston. The setup time was very easy and I encountered no problems. I have also been pleased with the performance of the motherboard. I have not worn out the onboard sound yet, and hopefully I won't. Since its purchase in August, I have not had any problems with the motherboard.
