Computer number two on our network is an Athlon 550, with an Asus TNT2 M-64 video card. While the M64 version of the TNT 2 the slowest of the 3 (M64, TNT2 and Ultra), the graphics quality is quite good. 32bit color is very nice and framerates are decent in games like Unreal Tournament and Quake 3. This of course is aided by the Athlon processor itself and the 64mb of Ram on board. So far we've had no trouble running games in Open GL with this card. And for those of you who doubt the important of the difference between 16 and 32 bit color, let me stress that there is a difference. For example, the clouds in Quake 3 are completely misty, as opposed to a bit pixeled and grainy run by a card such as a voodoo2. The colors are also more vivid.
If you're familiar with 3d benchmark programs, the athlon system equipped with the 3800 tnt2 scored 700 points higher than my machine running a voodoo2 12mb card on a P3 450.
For the money, the TNT2 card by Asus, or by anyone for that matter is a good pick up. If you're on a relatively tight budget, there's no reason not to get a card like this.
