I can't write about one particular Compaq Computer because I have
three of them. I bought my first one (486 SX/66) so long ago that
I can't remember being without one. The first one didn't have a lot of memory or speed but it got me where I wanted to go. I cruised the web, did spread sheets, even wrote an MS Access application for tracking
my stocks. Then I "thought" I needed a bigger, faster machine;
so I purchased another Compaq Presario (8772) at "Compaq Works".
Here again I can't remember the details...price, etc. It was just
the "almost" latest and greatest of it's time. You see Compaq
Works is the warehouse that Compaq uses to off-load older (still
in some stores) machines that they have given to others to test,
or maybe they are returns from a dissatified customer, or maybe
they needed repairs? Any way, they sell them cheaper there...go
look at "www.compaqworks.com" and see for yourself. Now I'm
cruising a little faster, can play more games, even see Videos
and hear great Music from the web. BUT I think (key word here is
"think") I need a still bigger, faster, more powerful machine.
BANG, I go back to Compaq Works and buy a Compaq Presario 5150.
This baby has 128 MB RAM, 350 MHz processor, 8 GB Hard Drive (my
old Compaq only had a 340 MB and it's still runnning fine!) and 32X
CD ROM drive. Now I've got computers in every room and all are
still running fine...knock on wood! The Compaq Presario Computer
is the most reliabile computer on the market today for my money.
When I'm not using them, the kids or the wife is and they just
keep on ticking! Timex should be so good!!
