A great burner

It was time to replace the previous 2x Sony burner and in light of the SCSI card already being installed I chose a SCSI replacement. Other options reviewed included 6x4x20 unit from LG and an 8x4x24 unit from Sony. The Yamaha won on price from the Sony and performance from the LG.
The unit arrived well packaged and with reasonable installation instructions and a SCSI cable.
Installation was a snap and it worked with all three of the packages (Easy CD Creator, Just Audio and WinOnCD) I use without any problems. The unit supports packet writing and therefore also works with Adaptec Direct CD.
To date (I've had the unit 4 months)there have no writing failures on any media used (Verbatim, Kodak, Ricoh & Pioneer)and the average time to burn a full CD is about 14 minutes.
Overall a highly recommended unit that fully justifies the price asked.
