| shugo's Full Review: Compaq Presario 1700-XL275 |
I recently decided to purchase a new computer to replace the unreliable desktop clone that I had been using for several years. I decided to purchase a notebook computer, as I needed a computer to take to client
locations.
I did some research and decided to either purchase a Dell Latitude or a Compaq Presario. I decided on the Compaq for a couple of reasons. First, I liked the idea of the hot swappable drive bay that the 1700 offers.
Additionally, I liked the computer’s appearance, specifically its sleek design.
I went to Best Buy to purchase the computer however, the computers they had in stock did not have the hardware that I wanted. Specifically, the off the in-store models only come with the DVD drive and do not come with the CD writer. I did not have a DVD player at home so I wanted to the DVD player to hook-up to my home using the S video hook-up.
Before purchasing this computer, I read several reviews regarding this computer on this sight. Now after a couple of weeks of using the computer, I have to say that I agree with the other individuals who have reviewed this computer regarding several points. First, the computer does run a little hot, due to the Pentium III processor and the thin design of the notebook. Second, the display is very sharp and clear. Third, the computer seems to be very responsive. I guess anything is responsive when it is replacing a 133mhz clone. With that being said, if I had to do it over again I would still purchase this computer.
