This program allows you to format a CDRW drive in a manner that allows it to be written and rewritten to/from so your system has another virtual drive. It comes in handy when you need to back up your drive or store information that takes up a bit of space on your hard drive.

I tend to like to format a couple of RW disk to use with Direct CD to store mp3 files to save space on my hard drive. That way I still have them around, but they aren't clogging my drive for new ones I load from MP3 sites.

The one disadvantage that many people aren't aware of at first is that with direct cd the RW disk is formatted in a way that is not compatible with your regular stereo. Meaning that you can't burn a music CD with it and jam to it while you drive to work- it just won't work. So if you happen to be shopping for software to create music CDs that WILL play in a car stereo try other pruducts like Adaptec's EZ CD Creator. I find that using both of these as sort of a tag-team is a pretty good setup.

This program is an ingenious idea and I am tickled pink about the strike of insight I had when I picked this program up. I now store photos, MP3's, and my valuable save data on these disks that I cannot afford to lose due to a drive failure or a virus, etc.
