I am a freshman in college, who has cerebral palsy, which affects my handwriting, so that it is not the easiest to read. One of the counselors at the college told me about the Alphasmart 2000 when I was registering for college. I did not get to try it out until the first day of college. I am also legally blind, but the font on the LCD screen is the perfect size for me to see with little difficulty. The people I think who would benefit the most are people with not so good handwriting, who want a laptop, but are unable to afford one, and college students, who are always on the go, but do not have the means to carry around a laptop. Also, if the Alphasmart gets misplaced, no big deal, as it is thousands of dollars cheaper than a full fledged laptop computer.
I had never heard of this product, and as far as I know, this is the only type of its kind out there. It is very affordable, and works well.
I have the Alphasmart 2000, and the only bad thing about it, is there is no type of back light. Just yesterday, I was typing notes while watching a movie, but it is hard to see in a room when the lighting is dim, or off. The cables work well, and the sending files from Alphasmart to computer is incredibly fast!
I recommend this product to anyone who needs a small, well working word processor!
