I purchased this product as an upgrade from a Compaq computer that I already owned.
I have owned this computer for approximately a year and a half. In all that time I have not had to contact Compaq for any reason. As a matter of fact, Compaq has a program installed on my computer that automatically sends me any updates while I am on the internet. The program is powered by BackWeb(TM) so that you can install the updates after you sign off of the internet.
After a year plus of use, I feel very comfortable with the fact that I do not need an upgrade in the immediate future. This computer has everything that a neophyte to an expert needs for their computing work.
An item that many people don't think about, but that I really enjoy, is the fact that the speakers are connected to the monitor so that they are not in the way. Also, the sound is the equivalent of a good stereo set.
All in all, this is the best computer I have had of the 6 I have purchased over the years.
