Hey there all!!!
I just got this computer about 2 months ago and WOW can it keep up!
I have had very little problems running all the software and being Online.
I bought this one from Dell Online and it was very easy to finance and have delivered. I ride a Harley all the time and it was nice to get it sent right to the apartment. I had no worries. It comes with almost everything that you need and what isn't factory installed you can get online. The baseline PC from Dell is a PIII with a A03 Flash Bios that Dell makes it very easy to upgrade it by offering a specialized Support webpage that Downloads it directly to your hard drive where you can make the Floppy that will Flash the Bios. All of the device drivers come on a Resource CD that will very easily allow you to upgrade the hardware and drivers. All of the Software is sent to you on OEM copies that allow you to customize your software anyway that you like. The Dell Support Center is a little hard to reach by telephone due to alot of people calling in, but they customer care is very friendly and curtious. They try everything that the can to avoid having to reinstall Windows or having you format the hard drive. (I unfortunately had to on mine).
The "stock" hard drive is a 10 Gig and a 16Meg Rage 128 Pro that I have had very little problems with. It also comes with a 56.6 K V.90 voice, fax, data modem that I have been very pleased with. The PC also comes with 64 Meg of SDRAM that can be upgraded to 768 Meg. It is ECC or Error Checking and Correcting and the Dell Reference and Troubleshooting guide is very good on walking anyone through the upgrade process. The text is very easy to read.
The Online Purchased Systems can be upgraded at the time of purchase to allow you to customize it even before you get it home and out of the box. All of the systems are factory tested, both for hardware and software that is installed.
The Dell Dimension XPS T700r is a great computer for both the novice and the expert users(although the expert may want to purchase a upgrade package) that is easy to use and learn.
I would suggest this type of system to anyone that is new to computers due to the online tech support that is offered.
