Skip the ZIP!

Written: Feb 06 '00
Pros:Holds decent amount of information.
Cons:Expensive disks, easily corruptible, not everyone has one.

Zip drives are an absolute waste of money. I had a zip drive come with my computer, and I also bought an external one for my laptop. After about 8 months, 75% of the time I would put a disk in and the drive would just click for about 5 minutes, and would say the disk was unrecognizable. I have lost about 500 megabytes of information such as reports, old documents, pictures from the net and my digital camera, and more. I made me extremely mad. Do not waste money on a zip drive. If you are looking for storage, go for an 8x burner. It is about as fast, and is much more reliable. A cd costs about 1 dollar, maybe less, and zip disks can cost as much as $15 dollars, and dont even hold half as much memory. An 8x burner is also about the same price.
