| dazey's Full Review: Logitech Camera Family |
I bought the Logitech QuickCam VC (back when it was owned by connectix, and my cam displays connetix's logo.) Because I wanted to have a way to get some photo's for my family without having to buy a digital camera, because they were super expensive, and the quickcams were going for about 45$ - 85$ which was in my price range. The longer I had it, the easier it was to use and get to do what I wanted it to. Its very easy to setup, I had the parallel version, because I dont have USB ports. It did its plug and play thing, back when I had no faith in plug and play. :) Asked for the quickcam software cd, and poof it was installed and ready to use. When I reinstalled windows, I had long since lost the cam cd, and windows of course doesnt have the drivers, I went to Connectix's site to look for the drivers, and this is about the time it was aquired by Logitech, and the drivers were super easy to locate on their site (www.connectix.com is owned by logitech so I can still use it to find the drivers) And it was just as easy to resetup with the new software/drivers. I've had my cam for about a year and a half now, and I have had no problems. Recently I decided to use NetMeeting to see what it was all about, and of course the setup to configure it to work with NetMeeting was equally as easy, and even on dialup (which I still use from time to time) It displayed real time video as good as my friends cam that he paid $300 for.
It displayed with millions of colors and can do up to 800x600 images at 16 million colors. Many of the pic's on my website are still taken with my cam, and load pretty quickly. I'd recommend this WebCam to anyone, even beginners. My 3 year old nephew can use the program, which means its gotta be easy to use.
