Name Brands Aren't Always Best
Feb 16 '00
Being new to the computer generation I was depending on anything to make a valuable decision to find the right system for me at home. Advertisements were the number one lead to me calling 1-800-GATEWAY.
Mistake big mistake.
As a newcomer to the computer world I will do my homework better in the future to decrease my frustration.
I suggest to anyone that is considering purchasing Gateway that you find a way to look at their customer feedback online before making that fatal purchase. I have owned my Gateway system for about 18 months now and I would never recommend it to anyone.
It wasn't until after my purchase that I realized I had make a mistake in trusting a well known product. I am currently on my second motherboard and my third monitor.
Thank goodness I purchased an extended warranty or I couldn't afford this computer.
My sister purchased a Gateway one month after me and she is on her third modem. My cousin who wouldn't take our advice and not purchase Gateway had to have his motherboard replaced one month after his purchase not to mention, he had to drive 2 hours to get it fixed.
During one three month period my system crashed 3 times losing everything.
I will never purchase another Gateway. They have the best customer service I have ever seen while you are making your purchase and during your return period but, the moment you need customer support you can expect to hold for a representative for over an hour. I at one time spent almost five hours on the phone trying to fix my computer.
I will say one thing. I might be a newcomer to the computer industry but, it didn't take me long to figure out that Gateway is not a product that I will be fooled by twice.
