| jonas's Full Review: RIM Blackberry Two Way Pager |
I have a love hate relationship with my Blackberry pager. It came to me as part of an intracompany shmooze-a-thon. Turns out that our CEO is buds with the honcho over at RIM. So without even dropping a dime, I am up and running with Wireless email.
Yea it's cool. It wirelessly, instantly synchs with our Exchange Server so that my email vibrates on my hip just about as fast as it shows up in my Outlook inbox. I can read Venture Wire from the commode, or fire off flames from Mopac... I can get woken up at 3:48 am at a hotel in Boston when it receives Hotwired's daily drivel. I can get closing quotes in the bay area during lunch... but for the love of God, why can't I get coverage at my home in Northwest Austin. It works everywhere else I have been (except in spots on I-95 between D.C. and Baltimore). But I am dead in the water in the 78750 zip code. And you know what that means. It does me no good. I still have to lug my laptop home every night and dial in just to check my email. Aaarrgghh. Come-on RIM.
Oh yea. My Palm V is also throwing a fit. Only one of those devices gets the coveted serial cable connection on the back of my docking station at work. And synching with the Blackberry (for contacts and schedule) puts my Palm V out of commission. So may be I am out $349 on this deal after all.
