Zonelabs FREE firewall is great. I have been running it for about a month now and I love it. I am on a Static IP ADSL and I am very vurnable to a haXor trying to get into my system. With ZL firewall is makes all of your ports Stealth, which means invisible. I have tried a few times from a remote location to break into my own system. Well the ZL firewall did the trick.
The best part about ZL firewall is that it is free. ZL Firewall is very easy to use. They make it where you have many options to choose from.
Alerts - The alerts section give you full detail on a Intruder trying to Probe your ports for a way to get in. You have the option to Log all alerts. This is a good feature becuae it will give you an IP Address of the freak who is trying to get in. Then from there you can take his IP and probe him. You can do a DNS on him, or just do a Traceroute and see where he is originating from.
Security - Well here you can adjust how secure you want to be. You can choose from High, meduim or low. I just go High on both since haX0rs like to mess with me.
Programs - This is a very important part indeed. This is where you can add the programs that you want to have access to the internet, and to allow access to your machine. It is really easy to use, you can have ZL on and try and communicate with the Net and it will ask you, do you want to allow this prog to have access to your machine. So that section is really easy.
Overall - This firewall is great! I have tested it so many different ways. If you have a Cable/DSL broadband connection, I highly suggest you get this program, or any firewall at all for that matter. It really is important to have some kind of protection from the Net. Hackers can really do a lot of damage if they get the right access.
