Take it slow & easy with Acer
Written: Apr 20 '00
Pros:low price, dependable so far (18 months)
Cons:Still available???
This little guy really is slow for a cdrw drive, by today's standards. At only 2X write and rewrite speed, it's about the slowest cdrw device you can buy, if it's still available. Now if you're buying this from a friend, it's probably worth $50-$100 (depending on if you're getting all the software, cables, and mounting hardware that originally came with it).
Installation epinions:
Easy-peasy. stick it in your pc, and with win 95/98, your computer will detect it, and all you have to do is install your easy cd creator software for cd mastering/recording.
Use:
Same story here... no real hassles, just care-free cd creation. If you want to make backups of your Playstation games though, you'll need something more powerful than Easy CD Creator. You'll need something like CDRWin.
Comparison:
My first CDRW drive was a similarly priced Memorex drive, but it died the first time I tried to format an RW disc. I traded it in on the Acer in the Winter of '98.
