Trinitron's explained

The Trinitron design of Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) has some definite advantages and has gained a common reputation for the best monitors. I have a CPD-2003GT, a 17" OEM Sony Trinitron and I can honestly say I love the display as well as the controls....

One other slight downside (Reply to this comment)

There is one further possible downside to the Trinitron design: The lack of mask stiffness makes the tube sensitive to vibration. A Trinitron monitor, particularly a large screen size, may not be a good choice in an environment where vibration is present (on a vehicle perhaps) nor in intense sound levels (under a tannoy loudspeaker or at a music venue). The effect is a "shimmering" of the picture.
