My old AMD K-6 233Mhz system recently died on me, so I did a little online shopping for a new computer. After hearing some good things about Dell from friends and on Epinions, I checkout the systems on Dell.com.
When I saw a Pentium III 1 GHz, I knew it had to be mine. :)
On the Dell site you can basically build your system the exact way that you want it. The layout of the website was very easy to use. It only took me about 15 minutes to choose exactly the system that I wanted and order my new Dell computer.
I was immediately sent an e-mail listing everything my new Dell would include and the date it was to be shipped. I ordered my system on Oct 31st and received my new Dell three days later. I was amazed! I didn't expect it to come for at least a week.

I am soooooo Happy with this system, I can't even tell you. Talk about speed! There is just no comparison to my old 233 MHz system. I burned a cd with it the other day... It took about 15 minutes to do something that used to take me an hour. :)
Customer Service:
I wanted to get all my files off my old hard drive, so I installed it into my new Dell. The physical installation of the hard drive was very easy. The side of the tower slides off easily of easy access and everything is simply laid out inside. Anyway, after I installed the drive and started my computer, the drive wouldn't show up on my system, so I went to Dell's customer service website. This process just amazed me.
There was absolutely no wait to speak with a representative. He was very helpful and friendly. He was able to completely analyze my system online and see what was wrong. That was so cool! He found out that my old drive was formatted with EZ bios and therefore would not show up. He then told me exactly how to get the files from the drive. I did what he said and it worked with no problem. :)
Other that that little glitch with my old hard drive, I have had zero problems with this computer. Yes it is a little expensive, but I paid as much for this SWEET system as I paid for my AMD K-6 system 4 years ago.
Dell also included a few things that I wasn't planning on getting...
- 1 microphone
- 1 blank CDR
- 1 blank CDRW
- 1 phone cord
Of course these things were not needed, but they were free and were an added bonus.
If you are looking for a new system and want to make your friends drool as you tell them about it, this is the system for you!
