As a one time owner of a Voodoo2 Banshee and a Voodoo 3 3000, I was ready to move up, because I have a "habit" of wanting to upgrade when possible. With the Voodoo 5 still around $300.00, I was looking for a quality card in a lower price range.
The Voodoo 4 4500 is the answer. It is fast. It has 32 Megs of memory and displays 32 bit color. In addition, it comes with a fan, which was missing from previous models of 3dfx cards.
I chose this card because I trust the 3dfx name. Most, if not all, 3D games will work on a 3dfx card. They offer a lifetime warranty and have excellent on-line support.
I have recently played Star Trek Voyager Elite Force on this card. The graphics were super sharp and they had bright colors. The game never once locked up because of a display problem. Other programs like Unreal and Blair Witch I all look fantastic with the 32 bit colors.
The card doesn't come with much. You get the card with a fan and a driver disk. You also get a voucher for a DVD decoder.
Overall, if you have the money, get the Voodoo 5. However, if the 5 is out of your range and you want a good card for the money, this is the one to get.
