MyPoints.com was easy to sign up for, and an easy way to get free gift certificates toward merchandise, food, and more. You can even use the points you accumulate toward free bonus mileage on one of the airline mileage plans.
You rack up points simply by visiting various internet sites, reading occasional emails, clicking a link here and there, and sometimes making voluntary purchases. You're never required to buy anything, but oftentimes, making a purchase or accepting a trial offer earns more points than you would get for just reading the email or visiting the site.
It takes a little while, maybe two months or more, to save up enough points to redeem for your chosen reward, but then for something that's totally free, that's no big deal. Of course, the goal point level can be reached in less time or more time, depending on how regularly you choose to respond to MyPoints emails, or log into the site for extra points opportunities, or how often you choose to accept purchase offers.
I've had few complaints in my experience with MyPoints. Sometimes I'm frustrated when one incentive program offers a reward I want, but on a site that I've already signed up for with another program, which makes me ineligible for the reward from the second program. Sometimes you have to wait days for some points to be credited to your account while the site communicates with MyPoints, or longer if you delay in completing a part of the requirements for the points to be awarded. Oh well, that's the way a lot of things go in life, and again, it's all free anyway.
Sometimes, I've accepted trial offers just to get a large amount of points, but then I forgot to cancel the account and my credit card or bank account got billed for subscription fees. That's my own fault for not keeping better track of such things.
Overall, I've been satisfied with my experience with MyPoints.com. I find it difficult, even petty, to gripe much about something that I do voluntarily, that gives me something for free when done properly.
