The IBM PC camera is seemingly the most basic of basic cameras, but it does a great job at its functions:
GOOD THINGS ABOUT CAMERA:
Installation was incredibly easy. The camera plugs in to a USB jack on your computer. With windows 98, it took about five minutes to install, and another couple of minutes to place and focus the camera.
Focusing is very easy, just turn the ring near the lens to set the distance of the object from the camera.
The picture is very clear. I would recommend having a light behind the camera for the brightest picture, and somehow this seems to help the clarity/resolution of the picture as well.
It takes great snapshot pictures which it saves into a gallery/photobook for you to modify, print or send.
The installation CD ROM comes with a whole bunch of other programs for advanced functions you may want to perform.
WHAT YOU'RE MISSING:
As it is a basic camera, it does NOT have any features such as zooming, and its general software does not have the ability to modify a video after it has been recorded.
Also, the video files are playable in the Windows media player, but ONLY with a modifier program. So if you email a video file to a friend, he/she cannot play it without that additional file. This is a slight inconvenience, but it is okay if you send a lot of videos to a few people.
That's about it. If you want quick, affordable
