Pros:... yup.
Cons:... see pros.
<sigh> The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
I question that statement, after purchasing the LANtastaic setup. I thought, "Hey, it makes it easy for me!"
I had a LAN set up at my home, and I was proud of it - running 5 computers all on the LAN and all of them were always connected to the internet via one modem. It was the best. But, I got LANtastic, because I had another computer coming in, and a friend said it might make it easy. Also, a quite a chunk of money happened to be burning a whole in my nice pants, so I went for it.
Turns out, it screwed up my existing LAN. Geez! I called customer support... nothing. I brought over a friend who's a network analyist. Nothing. I paid two computer techs to come out to the house. They told me I shouldn't have bought that. I knew that much...
It messes up your existing LAN, and is very ... well, not cheap. I don't suggest this to anyone... unless you want a good practical joke to give to your friend on April Fool's Day.
