I purchased my Dell about 6 months ago. My previous computer was a PackardHELL... nuff said.
I use a computer extensively at work and at home, however I am not any kind of an expert. I did a lot of comparison shopping prior to my purchase, and found that Dell really did have the best selection and prices with excellent quality. Every time I called in to discuss my system needs, I was met with a knowledgeable and friendly representative who made great suggestions, and more importantly, really listened to me. I love the online "build your own" concept.
The Dell site is easy to navigate and very helpful. I ended up souping up my model with a writeable cd drive, DVD with tv out, 256 RAM, fantastic altec lansing speakers with subwoofer/dolby surround sound, and a vast 22.6g hard drive. This machine is AWESOME. I have never moved so quickly multitasking between applications.
Speaking of applications, Dell provided an excellent bundle of software with my purchase! They even sent me the Office 2000 full upgrade a couple of months ago. I even have 2 printers hooked up and can send stuff to each one without slowing down. Dell has stood behind their purchase time and time again with excellent tech support whenever I need it.. and I'm talking about a live human, not some kind of vru nightmare.
My son also has a Dell, and he's very happy with it. The downside to my whole experience was the time it took to receive my machine was longer than expected. That's it. I love my computer! :)
