| nirmana's Full Review: Dell Inspiron 7500 R500VT |
This product has received great reviews - hence my reason for purchasing it. But within two weeks it was back with Dell Support. Basically Dell said the internal modem had become "loosened". Consequently, for some reason Dell Support wiped out all the data on my hard disk. On it's return for the factory there was also ma clear rattling inside. It is possible that Dell Support had been playing rugby with it as when I pulled out the floppy/CD drive parts feel out.
Next day the same problems I originally had returned to haunt me. The modem would not work - the modem port was not responding. I called Dell Support and explained I was very hesitant at sending it back again as I did not want to spend another two days reinstalling software. This time the Support Technician explained that the infra-red port must be disabled and new drivers for the modem downloaded.
The laptop is now working OK without the use of the infra-red port (one of the reasons I bought this machine).
No written response or apology has been received from Dell. Only a telephone call which was questioned for the benefit for Dell staff not Dell Customers!!!
