I haven't had this program long, and I haven't had much of a chance to use it. However, I already find it to be very good program and it's fairly easy to use.
Now, a lot of people out there will be familiar with hearme.com, a.k.a mplayer. Mplayer is probably, to my knowledge, one of the biggest voice chat places on the internet. I used mplayer for months and was constantly being frustrated by it's lack of reliability. The system was constantly crashing and I was always losing my connection. However, I kept coming back because I liked it's layout and the fact that it was a good voice chat site.
Now that I have found firetalk, mplayer looks even worse. It seems that firetalk is much more reliable and you won't get booted from it. I find the layout is quite similar to an ICQ type layout. You add people to your list and it notifies you when they are on. Then when they are online you can call them up and practically have a telephone conversation with them. If you don't really feel like talking, you can always type with text as well in the chat window. I'm not totally sure about this, but I'm pretty sure that you can have more than one person in on one call too, so you can chat with all your friends at once.
The thing that mplayer still has over firetalk, though, is the fact that it is a lot easier to meet people over mplayer because you just simply enter a room. I haven't experimented to much with fire talk, so therefore I do not know how you meet people, if it is actually possible. However, this is just me, and for a business man or something, they are not going to need to meet people, but just to get connected to them and talk and this is the perfect program for that.
There are definitely both pros and cons of firetalk, but I'm glad I have it and the download and installation was very easy.
UPDATE
After receiving a nice e-mail from firetalk thanking me for writing nice things about them here I would like to update this review.
First of all, I was unaware of this before, and firetalk admitted that this was there fault, that there are forums on firetalk. With the new layout in the update (and much prettier version:-)) there is clearly a forums button. Here you have access to chatrooms for all different types of chatting. This definitely makes it better than mplayer, however, the chatrooms are still not perfect; mainly because there's barely any rooms yet. This will all go away, though, when firetalk becomes more and more popular.
I don't want to knock mplayer, I mean it still is a good site, and it's great for gaming, but for voice chatting, firetalk is the way to go.
I'll upgrade my rating of 4 stars to 4.5:-)
