Yamaha is soon to introduce a new generation of CDRW. Already you can find the internal version of the CRW2100 in the larger consumer electronic retailers. But according the German(you can click on England to get the english version) website for Yamaha, the external version of the 16X/10X/40X with an 8MB buffer will ship late November. 16X is a five minute audio CD burn, talk about immediate gratification! For the last two months, I have been in the process of investigating CDRW's and watching prices. The CRW8824(Firewire)has already dropped $50 in price from $349.00 to $299.00. Just a heads up to hold on to your wallets. These 4X/4X/6X should drop in price to around $99.00 and the 8X's will be in the $200.00 range as well.
