| Beatz_One's Full Review: Goldtouch Keyboard |
Well as of right now I'm at the computer minding my own business listening to my vast mp3 collection (over 6 hours of music)on my fantastic sounding CSW PCWorks Speakers (another great product). Then my dad walks in with a box tucked under his arm. Being naturally curious, I looked at the package and found that it contained this keyboard. I plugged it in and read the instructions, and I immediately noticed a few things that set this keyboard apart from any other that I've used before.
Well I noticed that it was of those sleek, fancy, ergonomic keyboards. This was nothing new to me. After that I noticed that it split down the middle. This, also was nothing new to me. But as I perused the manual and examined the back of the packaging a bit more, I noticed something that kind of peaked my interest.
This keyboard was adjustable. That's right. It's width AND height could be adjusted. When I saw this feature I immediately wanted to try it out to see how it worked.
Well the way it works is this: there is a latch on the top of the keyboard that you pull out away from you to adjust the height and width of the keyboard, and you pull it back into the keyboard to lock in the position. After that its on to hours of typing comfort.
There are a couple of other features on this keyboard that make me like it even more. It has a much smaller footprint than most conventional keyboards that make it ideal for traveling and when the space at your workstation is at a premium. The keys are easy on your fingers and real responsive to the touch when you type. (I'm typing this review with the keyboard itself so maybe this is influencing me but hey whatever) The keys also make barely any noise when you type which is a sort of blessing when someone else is in the room with you and is annoyed with your noisy, fast typing.
I could go on and on about the pros about this keyboard but, as with practically any product, there are a few cons. Because of the keyboard's smaller footprint, the numeric keypad, normally located to the right of the rest of the keys, is now right on the main keyboard with the rest of the letters. This may get some getting used to, requiring you to retrain your fingers. And one other minor problem is this: my keyboard is located on one of those sliding board that slide in and out to store the keyboard when you're not using the keyboard. In its vertically elevated position, it can get caught when you slide the keyboard in. And on a side note, this keyboard is a bit pricier than most (100 plus)
However the pros far outweigh the cons in this product, and the fact that it can adjust is a major selling point for this keyboard, and if your budget will allow, then this is definitely a worthy investment for comfort while doing your computer work.
