When first learning how to work MyPoints I felt like a blind man being led into a deep dark forest. The site is very difficult to understand even to the most advanced user. I tried many times to open an account with Mypoints but it just was not compatible with my AOL operating system. Recently, after learning about more point opportunities being added to their site I decided to give Mypoints another shot. So far it seems as though everything is working smoothly.
I have only been operating Mypoints on a regular basis for about a week. Although all the points are being credited I am still unsure as to whether this program is worth my time or not. As it stands right now I spend about 30 minutes a week on the program for an average earning of a $10 gift certificate monthly. (1,000 points = $10 Target gift certificate) The strongest feature on Mypoints is their wide variety of gift certificates. You can get any gift certificates from Home Depot to Target, if you do not like this idea you can trade your points in for actual prizes. The delivery time of the gift certificates can range anywhere from two to six weeks.
OK so you ask how do I earn? Again, this is very hard to explain but I will make a feeble attempt at it.
One Time Only Points
There are many one time only points under the earn, visit sites sections. These sites are worth 10 points each and at the time of this article there are 15 sites available. There are also one time point opportunities under the Try it Out section. Many of these require a subscription of some sort or more personal information but, are worth 100 points and up. At the time of this epinion there are 14 opportunities available.
Daily Points
At the time of this epinion there is one site you can visit daily for 10 points, Eve.com, located on the front page. A day in Mypoints time does not go by the calendar date but instead goes by the actual time visited. Example: If I visit Eve.com at 10:00 A.M. today, I could not visit the site again until 10:01 A.M. tommorow. This principle holds true for the weekly sites also.
You can also earn 25 points daily for launching a survey at Zoomerang. Connect to Zoomerang through My Points under the visit web sites section. If you have not already done so sign up and then click on create survey. Zoomerang will then take you through the steps of creating a survey and after the last step where you click on launch survey there will be a place that says Click here and 25 My Points will be credited to your account You will then receive the blue screen confirmation.
Weekly Points
Again these are sites you can visit on a weekly basis for 10 points each and at this time there are four of those opportunities.
In addition to the sites there are also polls that you can visit on a weekly basis. This is where majority of you Mypoints are earned. One set of polls that are available to you are from Talk City. This link can be found under the Try it Out section. When you click on the link it explains what ways Talk City offers points and how to earn them. On the Talk City Home page there is a box that says, What Interest You, this is where the polls are located. You can complete a poll in each category or do only the ones interesting to you. If you do all of the polls there is a possibility of 200 points to be made.
The other set of polls is available weekly but usually on only Saturday and Sunday. These points are from Myway and can be earned by visiting the following sites:

Again this is where majority of your points come from and where the bulk of your time goes. The daily sites take only two minutes to do and the weekly site visits maybe only 10 minutes. The talk City and MyWay polls can take up to 30 minutes to do depending on the speed of your computer.
Bonus Mail
If you say you are interested in every category they offer you will receive two to three pieces of bonus mail each week. Each mail has a point value for visiting a link in the email. It will say if you are interested in this offer click here and earn points. It will also say if you are not interested in this offer click here and earn points. You can do both links and earn double points. There are also additional points available by taking advantage of the offer they are promoting. If you do not want this feature you do not have to accept it on sign up.
Referrals, Surveys, and Shopping online
The last points available on Mypoints are occasional. You can earn points for having people sign up under you. You can earn points taking surveys, this feature is rare and only happens every couple of months or so. The last way to earn is by shopping online. Each store has a point value per dollar spent at their store, as long as you link to the site and complete your purchase through Mypoints you will be credited points. This is a great earning opportunity if you shop at a lot of merchants. I have heard that sometimes these points are not credited so I would advise keeping all records.
I hope that this explains Mypoints to you. Again I would not start out with this program if you are new to reward programs, you may get discouraged and miss out on a good earning opportunity. For those old pros that want to try something new then this may a good program for you to add to your list since they are legit and have paid out. Good Luck!
