Draggar's Full Review: Alps MD 1000 Dye Sublimation Printer
In an age where everyone thinks inkjet and laser, Alps has released their own technology to provide superior photo quality at an affordable price.
First off, I've never owned this unit, but I've seen many people who have, and in the past, I've sold quite a few of them with no returns or upset customers.
This unit uses a special wax (?) technology, similar to what a dot matrix printer would use, to print on. These cartridges run about $10 each and the unit can hold up to 6 cartridges at one time (but you can switch them during jobs). the colors are your standard cyan, magenta, yellow, and black, but I've seen finish cartridges, and metallic shades.
This is the FIRST printer I've ever seen that can print WHITE, and has great metallic colors, also.
the only faults, you would NEVER want to use this as a text printer, and it can get very slow, but the quality is incredible.
Needed additions: IEEE printer cable
Suggested additions: Extra cartridges, ALPS papers.
This would make a great gift for photographer (amiture or professional), publisher, and high demand people.
