| mishking's Full Review: Hewlett Packard HP PhotoSmart Ink-jet Printer |
I was very skeptical when I purchased the HP PhotoSmart P1000 last week. I have always been under the belief that nothing beats an Epson ink jet for reproducing photos. Boy, was I wrong!
For starters, the Epsons have maximum resolutions of 1440 X 770 (or 1.1 MegaPixels). The PhotoSmart has a whopping 2400 X 1200 (2.9 MegaPixels)! The output, when printed on HP Photo Paper is indistinguishable from that of a traditional 35mm. I have even bought third-party photo paper from a wholesale club (100 4X6 sheets for only $8) and the output, although not quite as vibrant as the HP paper, it still rivals 35mm.
After calculating the cost per 4X6 print, it seems that I am saving almost one dlooar per 24 exposures over the cost of photo developing. Not only is the quality superior, but it is cost effective! This is a combination you can't beat.
As if this were not enough, there are built in SmartMedia and Compact Flash ports that allow you to print your photos without ever booting your PC. It is incredibly easy to use and very efficient.
If you have a digital camera in excess of the 2 MegaPixel mark, you will not go wrong purchasing an HP PhotoSmart P1000.
