If you travel internationally, AT&T is your only choice

Written: Nov 18 '99
Pros:Great for international travellers
Cons:Software is terrible

I signed up with AT&T Global Network through work before I took a business trip to Europe. I needed access to dialups in a variety of European countries, and AT&T seemed to provide that at a _reasonable_ cost.
I had started using the service initially in California. Although I thought the software was a bit clumsy and bulky, it did do its job without too many headaches. Installation was simple and straightforward enough. The dialup has never been busy, which is a real plus. (This is in Northern California)
When I arrived in Europe, my first step was to load up the AT&T Global Network software and tell it where I was. This was actually much harder than it sounds. Talk about counter-intuitive software. Their online manual didn't even match up to the screens I was seeing when I was using their software. Finally I got it to understand the country I was in, and dial. From there performance was excellent, everytime. Connections back to the US were flawless.
Overall the service seems to work fairly well. I think the software is however extremely clumsy and poorly designed. AT&T really needs to work on this in my opinion. However, overall, for the international traveler, AT&T provides a great quality of service when abroad.

Overall: Great quality of internet service for international travellers, other than poorly written dialer program.
