Pros:very entertaining as well as educational
Cons:slow to move from one activity to the next
Blues Birthday Adventure is a big hit at our house. Both my six and three year old enjoy this game.
Blues Birthday Adventure comes with 2 cd-roms with each having a choice of 2 different adventures.
It stars all of Blue's colorful friends such as Shovel and Pail, Slippery Soap, and Mailbox.
In this adventure Steve needs help in preparing for Blues Birthday Party. There are four things Steve needs help figuring out, what Blue wants to do at her party, what Blue wants to play at her party, what Blue wants to give her guests, and what Blue wants to eat at her party. The object of the game is just like the show. You try and find three clues to solve Blues clues.
In the process of looking for the clues, there are loads of fun things to do. You can make a card for Blue, visit the present store and pick a gift for Blue, help fix party favors or skidoo into a picture for something totally different.
Baking Blues cake is one of my 3 year olds favorite activities. Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper have all the ingredients to bake Blues cake but need help to add the ingredients to the bowl and mix it all together. They then need help to select the correct pans to make the cake in the shape of a paw-print. Last but not least, they need help assembling the cake into the shape of a paw-print and icing it.
The handy dandy notebook is interactive in this game and allows you to help in placing the clues in the notebook. After finding all three clues Steve goes to his Thinking Chair. He thinks of three possible solutions and will then ask you what you think. You then Click on the solution you think is right. When you choose the right answer you get to go to Blues Birthday Party and celebrate with all her friends. While at the party Blue will receive the present you chose for her and the card you made for her.
A neat feature of this software is that it allows you to choose a setting for the difficulty level of the game. You may choose beginning, intermediate or advanced. My 3 year old son plays it on the beginning level and my 6 year old daughter on the advanced. This allows both of them to be able to take advantage of all the fun things this game has to offer.
It is educational as well as entertaining. Some of the activities focus on skills such as matching, problem solving, Sorting, and Counting.
This is a wonderful game for children ages 3 to 6 that will not just get tossed to the side. We have had it for almost a year and both children still enjoy it.
