This is a great machine. I am a sort of novice at computing but I had this thing up and running inside of 1.5 hours after I opened the box. I chose this model because of it's expandability. The RAM is expandable to 512 and the hard drive can go to 30 gigs. The 14.1 inch screen allows me to use this as a full time work and play computer. For an extra $99 I purchased the 3 year on site service contract which eliminates the need to pack it up and send it back in the case of a service requirement. Microsoft Office 2000 zooms and a 56k modem performs just like a standard desktop's. I took the DVD player option so my 7 year old could play movies during a long road trip but Dell recommends a flat stable surface for use with CD's. The DVD ROM and floppy drives must be swapped for use which makes for the only inconvenience. Performance,price,compatibility and ease of use make this product a great machine.
