| tubster's Full Review: Toshiba Satellite 4080 |
I bought this laptop in April 99 when I started a new job as a trainer for a major multinational. The machine was intended to be not only my main personal PC for use when I was on the road, but for presenting training sessions as well.
The PC has been used very heavily, and has performed faultlessly for me.
A lot of people comment that the Toshiba laptops are slow compared to similar models of other brands. Maybe I'm imagining it, but mine seems slow-ish on operating system (Windows) commands, but very fast on application commands (eg very large Powerpoint files run with no delays).
I recently upgraded the RAM to 128k. The self-installation was very easy and the machine had no problem recognising the extra memory.
The display screen is wonderful, I get a lot of comments from people on how crisp and bright it is. Maybe the main drawback is that the machine is a little bulky and heavy. Unavoidable perhaps with the built in CD and floppy drives.
I thoroughly recommend it if you are looking for a second hand laptop.
