Qool.com rewards your use of their 'qool catcher', refering people, and buying things from their sponsors with 'qool coins.' These qool coins can be used to bid in the online auctions that Qool hosts. There are three ways to earn qool coins, you can use the qool catcher and get number of qool coins for every ad you click on (the number of qool coins you get is displayed above the ad), you can get 1000 qool coins for every person you refer, or you can get 10 qool coins for every dollar you spend at their sponsors sites. This can be the fastest way for you to earn qool coins, especially if you already buy from these stores.
Some of their sponsors include Borders, Ubid, CDUniverse, Outpost, hardware.com, carsdirect, and Dell.
Qool.com is using a few very high profile auctions to lure users to join their program. They are planning to auction off a BMW Z3, various vacation cruises, and a 30-90 minute high-altitude sub-orbital flight in a commercial space craft due to be flying in the mid 2000's. This flight will include one week of astronaut training before the flight.
Qool.com's auctions are not the best auctions on the web. They have only 15 categories from computers, software, and electronics to home, health and fitness, and Qool Stuff. Still, the small number of auction categories and auctions themselves (only around 900) are not too surprising since Qool.com is still in its infancy. The quality and the quantity of their auctions will get better with time.
